Welcome To The Rochford Medical Practice

Surgery Opening Hours

From Monday 02nd July 2018

Monday to Friday 0700-1900

Saturday 0830-1100 (emergency surgery only)

Please be advised that from 1st April 2018 the Practice will no longer be holding wart / verruca clinics.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this will no doubt cause to our patients.

Rochford Medical Practice patient appointment booking system

In order to improve the service we provide to patients we have reviewed the current systems in place and are making some changes that you need to be aware of.

  • All GP appointments for the day will be made available from 6.30am. You will not be required to call back at 1pm to get an afternoon/evening appointment.
  • If a GP appointment is not available you will be offered the opportunity to speak to or to see another health care professional through a Triage system. We would encourage you to use this system. If the health care professional assessing you feels it is necessary for you to be seen by a GP they will have direct access to consult with a GP on site and get back to you
  • If you are required to book any follow up appointments you will be able to pre book these and not have to phone the surgery on the day.

We welcome your feedback and comments.

The new system will be effective from Tuesday 19th December 2017.

If you have registered for online access to our appointment booking or prescription renewal, please click the following link:

Important Information: When booking the appointment online you need to ensure that you select the appropriate Clinician for the appointment, or you may need to rebook the appointment without being seen.  For example if you book an appointment with the nurse and the issue is one which should be seen by a GP you will need to then book a separate appointment with the GP.  If you are unsure who you need to see please call our reception team to book the appointment and they will be able to direct you to the appropriate clinician.

Friends And Family Test

As from 1st December 2014 it will be a contractual requirement that all GP practices undertake the NHS Friends And Family Test.

The practice has an excellent reputation regarding continuity of care, availability and flexibility of appointments including SATURDAY emergency surgeries.

We are a innovative practice and have introduced a number of new clinics including OSTEOPOROSIS and HEARING TESTS (see clinics), and we were the recipient of the Castle Point & Rochford Primary Care Trust Award 2006 'Making a Difference to Public and Patients'.

Practice News

Health Conditions A to Z

Important information: Rochford Medical Practice – the GP partnership of Dr Bajen and Dr Blasco.

Following ongoing CQC concerns, a mutual decision has been taken by senior partners at Rochford Medical Practice and NHS Castle Point and Rochford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to end a contract to provide primary medical services (GP services).  The decision is supported by NHS England and the Local Medical Committee (LMC).

In light of the immediate nature of this decision, alternative arrangements have been agreed by the CCG with the co-located GP surgery to ensure continuity of GP services.

As of Monday morning (18 June 2018), patients currently registered at the Rochford Medical Practice will be treated by doctors from the neighbouring GP surgery The Puzey Family practice, who share the same building (Southwell House).

Patients are advised to attend any pre-booked appointments and order any new repeat prescriptions in the same way. Please continue to use the Rochford Medical Practice website for online prescriptions.

The same switchboard number will remain open, so patients should continue to call the usual number.

NHS Castle Point and Rochford CCG and Southend CCG Chief Nurse Tricia D’Orsi said: “As commissioners it is our priority to ensure that continuity of GP services is maintained for the patients registered at Rochford Medical Practice. We want to reassure patients that there will be minimal impact on their services.”

Dr Bajen, GP and Senior Partner at Rochford Medical Practice said: “My priority remains the welfare of my patients and this will ensure a continuous and uninterrupted service for them.  I would like to thank the practice staff for all their hard work and patients for their support and understanding at this time.”

Although registered patients at Rochford Medical Practice have transferred to The Puzey Family Practice automatically (and therefore do not need to personally register), they can approach alternative practices should they wish to.

You can put your postcode into the NHS.uk website to find information about your nearest GP surgeries. You can find lots of information to help you choose. This includes how many GPs each practice has, their opening hours, what services they offer, and also how they’ve performed in inspections and what their patients think of them. Speak to the Practice Manager of your preferred GP practice to find out how to register.

NHS Castle Point and Rochford CCG will be writing to all patients with further information.

Our priority is to ensure minimal disruption to patients and high quality services delivered at all times.
